Carla Joan is the Business Development & Marketing Director at Álvarez-Díaz & Villalón® (AD&V), Puerto Rico’s premier architecture and interior design firm with offices in New York, Miami, and Chicago. Since joining AD&V, Carla has been a driving force behind the firm’s unwavering commitment to sustainability and corporate responsibility. In 2019, she successfully launched AD&V’s sustainability initiatives, aligning the company with the United Nations Global Compact, Women’s Empowerment Principles, B Corporation standards, and the AIA 2030 commitment.

In 2020, Carla facilitated a groundbreaking partnership with MIT to incorporate Puerto Rico into the Living Wage Calculator. She was an integral part of the team that led to the creation of AD&V’s first Impact Report and the successful attainment of B Corp certification in January this year. Carla became one of the first five women to achieve an associate position at AD&V in 2022. She was the first Puerto Rican woman finalist for the UNGC Network USA’s SDG Pioneer award, and she was recently named one of ENR's Southeast’s 2024 Top Young Professionals.
