29-Story Mixed-Use Development Gets Approval
1130 N. State Street has been approved by Chicago Plan Commission and will provide more than 300 residential units as well as ground-floor retail space. It is located in the intersection of North State and West Elm Streets and is being designed by Soloman Cordwell Buenz. The building will feature a mixture of one to two bedroom apartments, with eight assigned to be paet of affordable housing. It will be divided into three levels with plans to expand sidewalks at the base of the structure.
The residential tower will include stormwater detention, working landscapes and green roofs as well as electric vehicle charging stations to meet sustainability requirements. Demolition is due to begin in Spring 2022.
