Facade Underway for Inspire West Town at 1140 W Erie Street
Extensive facade Installation can be seen for an eight-story mixed-use development known as “Inspire West Town,” located at 1140 W Erie Street in the West Town neighborhood. Bond Companies is the developer behind the project, which will provide both ground-level retail and 113 total apartments. The construction will generate both on- and off-site affordable housing, with six on-site units and 17 that are being subsidized elsewhere in the area. Unit sizes will fall between one- and three-bedrooms, with overhanging private balconies attached to select units.
Inspire West Town is one of a spate of new mixed-use developments popping up in the area, as developers attempt to take advantage of the growing popularity of West Town and its proximity to Fulton Market. The building will contain a variety of amenities, including a 4,300-square-foot pool deck on the second floor, a fitness center, a dog run and spa, and a rooftop deck facing towards the city center. Additionally, there will be a 23-vehicle parking garage and an 86-bike bike room.
With Fitzgerald Associates Architects behind its design, the structure’s triangular footprint extrudes into a V-shape starting on the second level, from which two connected wings emerge. The facade’s color scheme is made up of a grayscale primary palette with flourishes of pastel colors sprinkled throughout. While renderings depict green accents, the final choice for the paneling leans toward a more pastel turquoise.
The transit-oriented project is less than a two-minute walk from the intersection of Milwaukee, Ogden, and Chicago, which offers bus service for Routes 56 and 66. Underneath this same intersection, access to the CTA L Blue Line can be found via Chicago station.
Completion is expected for the latter half of this year. Global Builders Inc has served as general contractor, with reported construction costs at $40 million.
