Alan Barker
Alan Barker is an architect and Principal at Lamar Johnson Collaborative with nearly twenty years of experience in multifamily residential, mixed use, and community-based design. Alan leads LJC’s residential studio, developing thoughtful design solutions for clients ranging from high end condominium, market rate apartment, co-living, and affordable housing.
His current work includes Embry, a condominium tower in the West Loop with Sulo Development, Chapter at Madison, a student housing project with CRG, and co-living towers across the country with The X Company.
Alan is a founding member of Architects Reimagining Chicago (ARC) and was instrumental in the creation of POPCourts! and Chicago DPD’s Public Outdoor Plazas (POP) Program. He is a member of the Urban Land Institute and sits on the Roscoe Village Zoning and Planning Committee and Lambda Alpha Ely Programs Committee.
Alan holds a Master of Architecture from Tulane University. He lives in Roscoe Village with his wife and two daughters, both of whom share their father’s love of drawing and building.
