Emily Kunkel joined Thornton Tomasetti on the Applied Science team in 2022 as a resource in the decarbonization sector with a background in chemical engineering. Ms. Kunkel has spent over a decade in the energy and heavy industry sectors focusing on decarbonization since 2015. Last year, she transitioned to Thornton Tomasetti, using her background in large-scale power and heavy industry experience to help decarbonize the world of the built environment.  There, her focusing is on finding alternative decarbonization pathways both for energy use in buildings and campuses as well as reducing the embodied carbon of new developments.
