John M Burke joined Newmark in 2018 and serves as a Senior Vice President with the Hospitality, Gaming & Leisure practice in the Chicago, IL office. John has substantial expertise in the valuation of hotels and resorts, waterparks, amusement and theme parks, RV parks, family entertainment centers and other leisure-oriented assets. He has completed appraisal and advisory engagements for existing and proposed properties in more than 30 states and Canada. At Newmark, John primarily focuses on hospitality assets in Illinois, Iowa, Kansas, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, and Wisconsin. John joined Newmark after roughly four years at Hotel & Leisure Advisors, a Clevelandbased hospitality and leisure appraisal and consulting firm. At Hotel & Leisure Advisors, John completed appraisals, feasibility studies, brand-on-brand impact studies, and operational reviews for various hospitality properties throughout the United States. Some of the more unique assets studied included indoor waterpark resorts, outdoor waterparks and golf entertainment complexes. Prior to Hotel & Leisure Advisors, John was a Senior Revenue Manager at Hilton Worldwide where he led a team of revenue managers responsible for a portfolio of 150+ select-service and extended-stay hotels. He also participated in the pilot test and assisted with the roll-out of the IDeaS G3 Revenue Management System to all of Hilton’s select-service hotels in the United States and Canada. John began his hospitality career at InterContinental Hotels Group as a Global Content Services Coordinator and Revenue Enhancement Specialist.
