Nancy Kohout, PE, LEED AP BD+C, is a Principal and a Mechanical Engineering Leader at SmithGroup, one of the world’s preeminent integrated design firms. She has more than 20 years of experience in the building design industry and is an expert in comprehensive mechanical design for mixed-use, workplace, higher education, science and technology, healthcare, and municipal clients. Nancy is passionate about electrification and decarbonization. She was recognized as “20 Women to Watch in HVAC” by Engineered Systems Magazine in 2021. She is currently serving on the Board of Directors of SmithGroup and Illinois ASHRAE’s Board of Governors and leads their Women in ASHRAE sub-committee. She received a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from The Ohio State University.
