Peter M. Babaian, P.E., S.E., P.Eng. is a structural and building enclosure engineer working who has been working in the building preservation and adaptive reuse space for over 20 years. He enjoys collaborating with clients to understand their goals, provide creative solutions, and realize their visions. He has participated notable preservation and historic repair projects, such as the concrete restoration of the Black Hawk Statue by Lorado Taft, the enclosure restoration of Hesburgh Library (including the Word of Life mural a.k.a Touchdown Jesus) at the University of Notre Dame, enclosure repairs to historic Orton Hall at The Ohio State University, enclosure repairs to historic 1540 N. Lake Shore Drive and Shrine of Christ the King in Lawndale. He’s a principal with Simpson Gumpertz & Heger and a Division Head in their Chicago office. He is also actively involved with The Masonry Society, Landmarks Illinois, and the Chicago Building Congress, and is a lecturer at Northwestern University.
