Scott Conwell is an architect and Director of Industry Development with International Masonry Institute. Having presented over 1,400 AIA-registered seminars in the US and abroad in his 3 decades with IMI, Scott has dedicated his career to educating professionals on best-practice design and construction with masonry, ceramic tile, stone, and terrazzo. He has authored dozens of articles for magazines like Chicago Architect, Licensed Architect, Construction Specifier, and Tile Magazine. He serves on the Tile Council of North America (TCNA) Handbook committee, the ANSI committee for tile standards, the Natural Stone Institute (NSI) Education Committee, and many other industry groups.

Conwell also leads IMI’s team on the Masonry Detailing Series (MDS), an online collection of illustrative details and technical information which sets the industry standard. These details have been used in architecture classrooms nationwide, featured by the likes of SketchUp and Architizer, and they have been referenced by countless design firms. With over 24,000 followers on LinkedIn, 1.7 million post impressions per year, and new posts every week, Scott is an influencer among design professionals in the realm of social media.

In recognition for his educational contributions to the national design community, Conwell has been conferred Fellow status by the Construction Specifications Institute (FCSI) and the American Institute of Architects (FAIA).
